Dare to Dupe

Dare to Dupe

Hello Beauties! I hope all of you are having a wonderful Summer thus far. Summer is filled with adventurous getaways, eating out, enjoying outdoor concerts, barbecues, and simply having a good time with people you care about. However, all of this recreational activity can add up and put a dent in your pocketbook! That’s why in this month’s column, I’m going to help you SAVE money in one of the areas women tend to splurge on: beauty, of course! So get ready to discover great products that mirror some of your favorite high-end brands. Let’s “dare to dupe”!

Definition: Dupe which is short for duplicate is simply a cheaper version of a product that is already on the market that will give you a similar, if not identical, result to the higher-priced product. Now that we understand the term, let’s get started!

C-Thru Lipglass by MAC

C-thru lipglass

Fortune Cookie Lip gloss

MAC’s C-thru lipglass is a staple and one of my favorite neutral colors to wear alone or over a lipstick. However, if you’re on a budget like most women, then you can treat yourself to NYX’S lip gloss in Fortune Cookie! It is almost identical to C-thru and has great staying power. Fortune Cookie looks amazing over a matte lipstick as well!!

Ruby Woo Lipstick by Mac

Ah yes, another classic: the red lip. Beauties, I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to live by the notion that you can never go wrong with a red lipstick. It is simply timeless! Ruby Woo is one of those colors that I consider a “universal shade” (a color that looks amazing on every woman despite their complexion or hue) But after some searching I found an awesome red by Revlon. This is from their ColorBrst line of jumbo pencils. The color is called Striking. So no need to fret beauties, the perfect red lip is not only within reach, but also within your budget.

The Naked Palettes

Just in case you don’t know, beauty lovers worldwide have been going crazy over these palettes since their release. One reason is because of the variety of colors that each of these palettes offer. There are three palettes out on the market in the Naked Line. The 4th one was released on July 8th and is called “The Smoky Palette.” I love a splurge, but being a beauty on a budget can deter you from spending $54.00 per Naked palette. I found these awesome palettes from a company called BH Cosmetics as an alternative. Not only do they offer you great color, but their pigmentation and quality is great. Did I mention that they ALWAYS have ridiculous sales as well!? I currently own the 120 color eyeshadow palette. (Yes, I said 120 colors!)

Milani Brozer

Summertime is perfect for wearing your favorite bronzer/skinfinish. Although I wear mine all year round, applying this to the places on the face where sunlight naturally hits (t-zone) instantly gives you a beautiful glow and natural-looking radiance. I’m in love with MAC’s skinfinish in the color Gold Deposit, but I found something that will give you that glow you’re looking for without breaking the bank. Try Milani’s Baked Bronzer.

Remember, it’s important to treat yourself, so go ahead and be beautiful on a budget. You deserve it!
