It’s the Little Things

Hey beauties! We have all heard someone saying that in life, it’s the little things that usually make the difference. Well guess what? That same mantra can be used in regard to makeup and beauty. So let’s discuss my favorite little things that I swear by when it comes to a successful makeup application. These items are small enough to fit into your daily makeup case and routine, but effective enough to take your look from blah to boom!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

1) Eyeshadow Primer. If you’re like me, you have a little problem called oily lids! Ughh…it used to be a problem until I discovered primer a couple of years ago when a random trip to Sephora led me to a very knowledgeable representative who asked me this profound question when she said, “Why does your eye shadow look like that”? After keeping this staple in my case, my eye shadow stays on throughout the entire day without reapplication. It also improves the pigmentation of your color! Remember: CREASING is the enemy!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

2) Liquid Eyeliner.  Another favorite of mine! Applying eyeliner on the top of your lids will automatically open up and brighten your eyes, especially for my ladies who have smaller or more close-set eye shapes. In fact, you don’t necessarily have to apply eye shadow in order to rock a great eyeliner. You can use a pencil, but I personally love a liquid eyeliner with a fine tip to ensure accuracy and neatness. It can be a little tricky on your first application, but practice makes perfect!

MAC Studio Finish SPF35 Concealer

3) Concealer. Honey forget about diamonds, concealer is a girl’s best friend. Well, not quite, but a gem nonetheless. Again, this is an item that encourages brightness! I usually apply a little concealer under my eyes and on any other problem areas I may have such as a mark from a previous breakout, etc.

Tip: If you ever find yourself running out of eye shadow primer, you can also apply a pea size amount of concealer to your lids as an alternative.

Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Gloss

4) Clear Lip Gloss. I don’t leave home without it! Ladies, this must always be in your case for a couple of reasons. First, if you like to wear a matte lipstick like me, you know that due to the drying nature of a matte lipstick after an hour or two, your lips start to feel like two rocks rubbing together! You can apply a small coat of gloss to eliminate that feeling. It also gives your lips the extra moisture it craves during these brutal winters. Second, it gives you the option to switch from a lipstick to a lip gloss in a matter of seconds.

Please Note: The brands that I use in regard to these items are a preference. I’ve tried different ones over time, but these have proven to be reliable and effective. I encourage you to experiment with different brands to see what works for you beauty! Plus, it will give you a reason to shop!
