The great philosopher, Earl Nightingale once said years ago, “We become what we think about.” When your mind has wholesome material going in, positive results come out. Here are three strategies to help you think better thoughts, get smarter, and enjoy life more.
Strategy #1: Turn off the Television
Look, you’ll never develop your mind if you’re constantly feeding it trivialized drama. There is a time and place for the appropriate entertainment, but when you’re trying to get smarter, turn off the television every now and then and read a book for 30 minutes instead.
Strategy #2 Listen to Podcasts
One of the fastest paths to personal growth and development is listening to people who are doing what you want to be doing and learning from them. I have found podcasts to be an amazing resource of tools, tips, and strategies in my business as a Leadership Coach. Turn your car into a rolling university and listen for at least 30 minutes depending on your drive. Here are some of the podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis:
- This is Your Life – Michael Hyatt
- 48 Days to the Work you Love – Dan Miller
- The Charged Life – Brendon Burchard
- Internet Business Mastery – Jeremy Frandsen and Jason Van Orden
- Ask Pat – Pat Flynn
- Smart Passive Income – Pat Flynn
- The Ray Edwards Show – Ray Edwards
- EntreLeadership – Dave Ramsey
- Online Marketing Made Easy – Amy Porterfield
- The Portfolio Life – Jeff Goins
Strategy #3 Get a Coach
In his book, The Compound Effect, Darren Hardy says: “I have always found it interesting that the most successful people, the truly top performers, are the ones willing to hire and pay for the best coaches and trainers there are. It pays to invest in your improved performance.” A Coach will help you go further, faster.
Remember, high achievers like yourself have 5 characteristics:
- Believe you can win
- Get past the past and reframe failure
- Set specific goals
- Know your why
- Get started!
The path will only become clear when you are on it. Get in motion and start taking the necessary steps to make 2015 one of your best years ever.
