In Between Seasons

Pre-Fall—it’s the season between seasons. One day it’s smoldering hot, and the next, you’re freezing your derriere off. Of course you don’t want to store all your Summer pieces, nor pull out those Fall sweaters just yet. There is a way to make a seamless transition into the new season. The key to making this transformation is to focus on simple elements of your wardrobe and sticking to the basics.

Accessorize

Layering is your best friend during this transition. Add a lightweight scarf in rich pre-Fall hues (orange, rust, burgundy, black) to either bundle up on a random chilly day or to just look like you’re ready for Fall.

Leather Up

Although I never really put my leather pieces away, pre–Fall is a great time to put these leather/pleather pieces back into play. A moto jacket with a lightweight t-shirt, a leather skirt with a top — all ways to bring in that pre-Fall appeal. Mixing heavier fabrics with lighter fabrics will give you a transitional look.

Keep Your Toes Out

Open-toe ankle booties combine the best of both worlds, being somewhat sandals and traditional booties at the same time. Pair them with a range of outfits for a seamless seasonal transition.

Go Chambray All the Way

Chambray shirts can easily transition into your Fall wardrobe because they are lightweight enough to wear on a warmer day and perfect for layering on cooler days. I’ve been rocking my chambray shirt all Summer long and can’t wait to incorporate it into my Fall wardrobe. Pair them with skinny printed trousers and a light cardigan or blazer as the temperature dips.

Add Tights

Keep your Summer faves in circulation by slipping on a pair of opaque tights under a pair of shorts, a skirt, or your favorite summer dress if you’re not ready to give them up just yet. They will instantly make your outfit look much warmer and more put together.

Don’t get lost in this in-between season. Be creative and consider using these wardrobe elements. All these pieces will serve to make between-season dressing a breeze.
