Recently, Christian hip hop artist, Da’ T.R.U.T.H.recently returned from a 12-day tour in Africa! The six country tour included Nigeria, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Johannesberg, South Africa and Kenya. The tour was hosted and sponsored by local churches and several African organizations. The trip also included Christian hip hop artists Ambassador, Sean Simmonds and Jahaziel (U.K. rapper). Hears reflections from the trip:
Africa was an amazing trip! By all means, one of the most memorable tours of my ministry/career. This was my third time in the motherland but every time I go it only seems to get better. In every airport we were greeted with songs of celebration and dance.
Each time I go, my heart is really encouraged because I get an opportunity to see the fruit of my labor. We have been grinding in the field and doing ministry through music for over 16 years now and the testimonies in Africa were a reminder that my labor has not been in vain. Many of our brothers and sisters there actually refer to Ambassador and I as “Father” because of how we have discipled them through our music, interviews, blogs and videos. The high level of respect, reverence and adoration also serve as a reminder of the great responsibility that I have as a leader and also of the work that the Lord of the Harvest has been doing through Christian Hip Hop music for many years now.
There are many others like Ambassador, Flame, Trip Lee, Lee, Lecrae, Shai Linne…just to name a few that are are being used in the same way in the States and in various places around the globe. Everything from the in store events to the panel discussions and press conferences was not only exciting but fruitful.Â
The concerts were filled with thousands of people rapping every lyric and singing every hook from literally every album that we’ve ever produced and honestly, it didnt go to my head, instead it encouraged me to continue to go hard for the glory of God and make Christ-centered music that will yield great eternal reward.
